Household Hazardous Waste Collection A Huge Success

The Southwestern PA Household Hazardous Waste Task Force sponsored a collection at the Manheim Auction (formerly Butler Auto Auction) in Cranberry Township on August 16, 2008.

Many volunteers were on hand to direct traffic into and out of the auction complex, survey your waste materials, collect fees, and unload over 700 vehicles. CTCC would like to thank everyone that particpated in the collection.

The 32nd Annual Community Days event began on Friday July 11th with a Chicken BBQ fundraiser held by the Cranberry Township Sunrise and Noon Rotary clubs with proceeds benefitting the Miracle Field project at Graham Park. The clubs had hoped to sell 750 chicken dinners, however by 7:00 PM, 750 chickens were sold, 300 reserve chickens were sold, and the extra chickens that had to be purchased during the event were sold, totalling 1280 meals, making the event a huge success. Attendees of the fundraiser enjoyed performances at the Sunrise Rotary Gazebo, attended the Farmer's Market and toured Sample School, built in 1874.

Saturday July 12th began with an All-Day Pancake Breakfast held by the Lion's Club and CTAA Tournament Games, followed by the traditional booth's, games and musical performances. The weather was hot and sunny most of the day until a light rain crept in around 9:00 PM. A dazzling fireworks display seemed to be enhanced by the rain and capped the weekend festivities.

The Cranberry Township Community Chest would like to thank everyone who participated in our 2008 Community Days events! Planning for 2009 will begin soon and the CTCC welcomes your thoughts and your involvement in making next year an even greater success.
