Mission

CTCC Goals:

  1. Increase volunteers & membership by connecting residents to non-profit/civic groups (primary goal). Create sustainability for Cranberry for long term community health (Cranberry Plan).
  2. Help to promote the non-profit/civic groups with their mission and programs.
  3. Help raise money for the non-profit/civic groups and encourage them to provide community programs & projects. Seed services and programs that benefit our residents and community.

Raising Money:

  1. Annual drive in July allowing residents and businesses to donate/pledge directly or on a quarterly sewer/water bill.
  2. Special events: CTCC 2010 Community Days, Annual Reports, Grants, others.
  3. Legacy Foundation Funds; endowments for CTCC, library or any non-profit or civic group.

Promotion:

  1. Central website, newspaper calendar, Township website, press releases, others.
  2. Inter group emailing of programs and fund raisers.
  3. Reaching the community through Annual Report.

Engaging Residents:

  1. Encourage "Community Service" and create levels of recognition for those who give 50/100/250 hours of service to our non-profit and civic groups.
  2. Create programs where mothers/daughters, fathers/sons, families can look at a list of volunteer opportunities and get involved.... ideally in time becoming members of the organization.

History

It has been full circle for one member of the Cranberry Township Community Chest. In 1975, the Cranberry Township Rotary decided its main project for the years would be to start a Community Chest. Frank Petrone, then president of the Cranberry Township Rotary and now one of CTCC'c 11 board members, recalls how the Boy Scouts, Girl Scouts, J.C., Women's Club, Fire Company and Ambulance Corps had to solicit funds any way they could.

Community Chest's first slogan was "Watch the tree Grow" and a tree-shaped campaign sign was planted at Route 19 and Crider's Corner, where Burger King now stands. Like CTCC's original tree, Frank's dedication continues to grow. His ongoing guidance in giving back to the community symbolizes what makes Cranberry both a great community and a special place to call home.
